Jess Edwards spent 33 years in the Army in hybrid roles, retiring as a Lieutenant Colonel in the Medical Service Corps. He served tours in South Korea and Afghanistan and worked as a medical device product and project manager for global medical device makers during and after his military service.
His education and experience include extensive leadership in developing and deploying emerging medical technology. That combination of military discipline, healthcare leadership, and IT expertise shapes how he approaches everything in Concord.
He lives close to the work. His marriage to Naomi lasted 41 years before she passed. Two of his daughters call New Hampshire home, and he has a granddaughter here too. His two dogs round out his active life. This isn't abstract public service for Edwards — the decisions he makes in Concord land in our backyards.
Serving Beyond the Uniform
Rockingham voters have sent Jess to the House five times. As Chair of the Finance subcommittee, he has guided three DHHS budgets successfully through the process. He knows how state money moves — and exactly where it goes.
His volunteer efforts have included serving on the boards of Liberty House and One Sky Community Services, serving as Commander of the local American Legion, supporting two local Scouting troops, and service on the Auburn Planning Board.

The essential building block in a healthy society is the family. Government cannot love or nurture, nor dedicate itself to our children with the passion and persistence of parents.
Protect Your Wallet
The first rule of economics is that there are limited resources and unlimited wants. Government can easily pose itself as a way to meet those unlimited wants. Those claims need to be challenged at every step to preserve the ability of families to enjoy life and liberty.
Expand School Choice
Every child is unique and precious. The role of education is to support each in attaining their potential. Children should understand our history and founding documents as the basis of American exceptionalism. Reading literacy and basic math skills are the key building blocks.
Grow the Economy
Government's role in securing rights includes property rights and access to free markets. A free, empowered family that operates within a framework protecting public safety and transparency enables a growing economy — and growing opportunity for all.
Otherwise Leave You Alone
Government works for the people; the people do not work for the government. The goal is to leave people alone to choose for themselves how they wish to pursue life, liberty, and happiness. "Less is More" describes my approach to governing.
